Spatial Montage and Multimedia Ethnography
Judith Aston's work has recently been published in Forum: Qualitative Social Research - a peer-reviewed multilingual online journal for qualitative research. Judith's article is part of a special themed edition on 'Visualising Migration and Social Division: Insights From Social Sciences and the Visual Arts'. The editors were particularly interested in publishing her work within this theme, due to its genuinely cross-disciplinary nature and insightful discussion on visual methods. The work described in the article is ongoing and is being progressed through her current collaboration with Paul Matthews from the University of the West of England's Bristol Institute of Technology. The aim is to develop innovative approaches through which to combine fluid interfaces with video metadata, to develop new possibilities both for 'beyond text' scholarship within the digital humanities and for the wider context of digitally expanded film-making within the creative industries.
FQS is an open access journal and the full article can be found on this website, in the publications section, and may also be reached via the following link: http://www.qualitative-research.net/index.php/fqs/article/view/1479. The article is based on work conducted for the DCRC funded project 'Fluid Interfaces for Narrative Exploration'.
