The DCRC are delighted that both our i-Docs website and Senior Research Fellow Mandy Rose's CollabDocs website both feature as resources on the lovely Tribeca Film Institute sandbox website.

We are sure that this is yet another sign of the growing international and interdisciplinary conversation around themes of collaboration and interaction in the continuing evolution of the documentary format.

On her Collabdocs blog, Senior Research Fellow Mandy Rose has collected together 12 tweets from 2012 that reflect an exciting year in interactive documentary. Mandy's review of the year provides a fantastic overview of the wealth of activity in this exciting new field, to which she is an important contributor.

During the course of the year I’ve been developing Stage 2 of the project. I’ve been experimenting with combining the videos that you can see in the gallery with social media content — images from Flickr (Creative Commons licensed) and live comments from twitter. I’m working with a version of the open-source Popcorn Maker authoring tool that’s been customised for me.

The week auspiciously ending the 13th of July was also the 149th week of the operation of the DCRC. The week brought workshops on books & print and smart cities, as well as talks on gamification, interactive documentary and a visit from the university's board of governors. 149 years ago in 1863 the first section of the London Underground opened and the International Committee of the Red Cross was founded. In week 149, the DCRC and the Centre for Fine Print Research held a two-day workshop on the future of the book and contributed to the Open City programme for the European Capital of Culture Guimarães 2012.

Videos of the key note that Prof. Jonathan Dovey gave at the 'Expanding Documentary' conference in New Zealand last December are now online. In his presentation Prof Dovey addresses and expands upon the work he has been doing with Mandy Rose around the emergence of collaborative modes of documentary making.

With Autumn in full swing and the first wintery cold snaps, the week ending 25th November was a mix of thinking about both of the changing physical and intellectual landscapes around us.

Due to numerous requests and many last minute entries, we have decided to extend the deadline for submissions to i-Docs by a week.

Following the success of i-Docs 2011, we are delighted to invite your participation in i-Docs 2012, a two-day event dedicated to the rapidly evolving field of interactive documentary.
