DCRC Senior Research Fellow Mandy Rose has offered the following commentary, initially posted on her CollabDocs blog, on the statement of intent offered by the new Director General of the BBC, drawing upon her own open letter to the incoming DG, 'Breaking the chains of linear programming', posted as part of openDemocracy's "Our Beeb" site.

We are pleased to highlight the fact that, in the last week, two DCRC-related apps have reached significant milestones. DCRC researcher Charlotte Crofts' Curzon Memories app was one of only ten apps to be selected for the London AppCircus event on the 4th of July. MA Media Practice and Culture alumnus Geriant Ffrancon has also seen his Channel Weather Symmetry app made available for download this week. Two fantastic examples of the creative practice work conducted as a part of the remit of the DCRC.

The week ending the 10th February marks the 127th week of the DCRC's operation. 127 is a Mersenne and a cuban prime number. An auspicious week then for several events that ocurred: Patrick Crogan speaking about his book 'Gameplay Mode', with an accomanying talk by Tomas Rawlings concerning the recent launch of the game 'Call of Cthulu'; a preceding DIGRA meeting here at the DCRC; a showcase of recent MA Media: Practice and Culture work; and a public talk on 'Design Fiction' by Sam Kinsley.

On the afternoon of Friday 18th November we shared research outputs from Keeping In Touch (an early part of Connected DCRC) with an audience of community-based workers and academics, as well as visitors from the AHRC, who funded the research.
