DCRC - Digital Cultures Research Centre

We are looking for an excellent PhD candidate in one of the research theme areas of: Play, Collaborative Media, Pervasive Media and the Attention Economy. The DCRC also has a number of associated and emergent themes so that candidates are strongly urged to read the profiles of staff in our network to ensure that their topic will contribute to our research community.

As well as the DCRC 'Fusion Lab' collaboration with the BBC, our close working relationship with the Pervasive Media Studio continues to offer a wide range of opportunities for our students to engage with live projects in the field of innovation in creative technology.

DCRC researcher Dan Dixon is leading a design ethnography project working with both Punchdrunk, a London based immersive theatre company, and MIT Media Lab's Future of the Opera Group. Punchdrunk and MIT were funded by NESTA's Digital R&D fund to create a mixed-reality, online version of their New York production of Sleep No More.

Patrick Crogan has been convening a reading group concerning the writings of the philosopher Bernard Stiegler, which has been attended by a range of people associated with the DCRC.  We have a blog at: technophilia.wordpress.com (please do visit it), but I thought it was time to post some broad reflections on how Stiegler's work relates to some of the research projects currently underway here at the DCRC.
