Seth Giddings
Seth is Programme Leader for Media and Cultural Studies in the Department of Creative Industries and the coordinator for doctoral level research within the DCRC. He teaches digital media practice (particularly web media) and new media theory, with a focus on popular new media such as videogames and digital cinema, and everyday technoculture. His research is developed in both written and moving image form and combines analysis of everyday software such as videogames with the microethology of media technological cultures. A co-author of Lister et al New Media: a critical introduction (2nd ed: 2009), he has also published on videogame culture in a number of journals and anthologies. As well as his project for the DCRC he is currently editing, with Martin Lister, The New Media and Technocultures Reader for Routledge, and writing a book on virtual and actual play provisionally titled Gameworlds.
