Rebecca Goddard is an artist who works across materials, processes and practices to consider relationships with land, place and ecologies. She is a Senior Lecturer in Cultural Production at UWE. Using material as matter, taking Karen Barad’s suggestion that ‘matter feels, converses, suffers, desires, yearns and remembers’, she explores entangled and complex material relations. Recent works have examined material links between memorialisation, capital and imprisonment, whitehallwargraves and, photographic works which seek to elevate the status of the sensitivity of the materials used over the dominance of the image.
